      Turns out it wasn't the switch but the fact that it's nested in ESXi, it's always worked before but this fixed it. Had to enable Promiscuous mode on the vSwitches.

      Also don't forget that wireless speakers will induce latency. Some amps can adjust for this, have a look in your manual

      My logic was that an instrument wireless would have less latency...

      Guess what? It's still horrible. If one band member want's a wireless in-ear monitor, they all have to have wireless monitors on the same broadcast system. Otherwise they get to hear what they're playing twice!

      Nah, that's why we have latency adjustments on outputs you delay all the other wedges to match wireless

      Same with using live effects like waves we delay the other inputs to match. It's very little latency on either for high end systems

      @gjacobse said:

      Drive mapping isn't difficult to do. But it should not be a chore to manage. I don't believe that there should be or even needs to be more than just a few scripts needed for log in. Using Net Use is pretty straight forward. But I am now searching for a better and practical way to manage both folder security and drive mapping. One that reduces human error (mine) and time needed to implement.

      Right now I have a few scripts at a clients, and I've sorted out the shares and drive assignments desired.

      :: Disconnect shares
      net use n: /delete
      net use m: /delete
      net use p: /delete
      net use q: /delete
      net use s: /delete
      net use x: /delete
      net use y: /delete
      net use z: /delete
      ::Connect required shares
      ::Uncomment as needed
      net use n: \\dc1\share1
      net use x: \\dc1\share2
      net use z: \\dc1\share3
      ::net use y: \\dc1\share4
      net use s: \\dc1\share5
      ::net use q: \\dc1\share6

      Why are you using a Script when you can use GPP mapped drives? with item level targeted to apply it to the same group that gives them security access.. So it's one action.

      Doesn't this also mean that anyone could hack anyone, if it's legal, no expection of privacy and the government isn't using any special process to get to it then.

      so a Citizen can also hack another citizen
      and a Citizen can hack the government all legally.

      Just bought me a Schlage Smart lock.. They make some of the best and strongest locks out there..

      https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BKZW8CG/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&th=1

      BTW if you are into home automation like me, you really should stick with Apple HomeKit Products Why? Because apple designed the system that the products use. It's all encyprted using your iCloud Keychain and HomeKit uses AppleTV as a relay rather than exposing directly. Seriously you don't want lock makers (looking at you kwikset, they made bad locks anyway though) handling the Network security site of it.

      Is there something similar (hopefully free) to how Pertino works that I can behind NAT to have two Domain controllers talk to each other? It's a temporary solution before an IP rescope.

    • More Internet of Things/Smart Home Stuff

      Now that I can control all my Lights (Lutron Caseta Switches and Dimmers) with HomeKit and my Door Locks. I wanted a way to control my SimpliSafe Security system, I could have wrote a GPIO script to connect into a keypad but those are insecure anyway as they transmit the PIN to the basestation plain text (not really a big risk IMO unless you are some target, the average burglar isn't going to care). so I decided instead of an RF connection I would figure out a way to write a script that uses the same thing the mobile app does which connecting to HTTPS website and using JSON to control it.

      With a proxy it's already been discovered the exact unofficial API http://www.leftovercode.info/simplisafe.php http://ben.hutchins.co/simplisafe/

      Anyway I got most of the JSON done to use Homebridge on a RaspberryPI turns out someone else did too.. so I'm just going to use theirs and tweak it some now: https://github.com/alexarena/homebridge-simplisafe

      Seems a lot of use are working on this kind of Hacking stuff anymore to make manufacturers products better. The sad thing is this is actually more secure than using their own keychain remote or keypad to arm/disarm since those aren't encrtpyted. this is using SSL both to the web and over the cellular connection to the base station.

      I'm sure in the licensing agreement they can require an audit that you must pay for. 😉

      Not everything in the Microsoft license agreement is legal. we have fought and won before.

      Ebay is the best place to sell used electronics. You always get the going market price. Sometimes you get lucky on craigslist, but they are a lot of lowballers and lowlifes on there.

      It seems most of them want to meet during the day.. I've come to the conclusion that most people on cragislist are on lowlifes on welfare wanting to munch of other people and expect a lot of stuff near free. I've been asked on their many times to even give stuff away guess they wanted something but "lived on a fixed income".

      The only thing you could do is redo AD. Microsoft documentation uses ad.domain.com in their examples for this reason.

      He had asked me about this offline and it appears, from our brief conversation, that the only impacts he is seeing is that he needs to manually put in external addresses into DNS (like www.mysite.com) so that it will resolve and the default domain points to the DC, not the website. As long as users are okay with that one URL not being usable and he's okay with the small amount of manual DNS entries, it looks like that is his only impact and he is fine not changing the domain at this point.

      Unfortunate and not best practice, but it appears that the issues are minimal and his best option is to just remain with it as it is at this point. Not worthy modifying the domain now.

      Correct, Really it is just that users will have to be trained to enter WWW in front of domain.com to get to the website. All links to the website will have to explicitly use www or it will fail.

      You can also setup IIS on DCs to redirect domain.com to www.domain.com if you need to.
      I'm glad we don't use the same one internally and externally.

      True, that helps with capacity a little. Although VERY little, we assume.

      Probably wouldn't even really be a noticeable difference in resources. I wouldn't be surprised if it's actual used resource was 256-512mb and less than 700mhz of a single CPU when it's not actively being used (99% of the time). Heck you can even leave them powered off it you wanted.

      I don't see where @scottalanmiller is saying the colo is dead. I think he's saying smaller providers can't compete with the big guys in providing cloud/hosted services (SaaS).
