    • RE: How to recover system image from Windows 7 using the backup & restore app

its syncing back with my sensors! With that said I CAN"T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR YOU HELP! But I can thank you with beer @ Spiceworld if I can make it this year!!!!

I'm letting the database rebuild now about 1-2 months of data and I'm back in business.

I have no friggin clue why we couldn't see the data yesterday. Just for shits and giggles, I created another VM, used the windows 7 iso and booted, and did the repair option and I pointed to the back up, it still won't let me load it. I have no clue why.

But none the less, I am able to attach the VHD from the windows backup, and see my actual system image and pull my individual files from my database.

My app is a security system

I think the problem was it wasn't fully loaded. I can see it properly now locally attached and even if I mount it from the share.

Ok so I took a stab at it today, this time it did show me the files I was looking for so I'm not sure whyyyyyyyyyyyyy, but it is working. I was able to open disk management, attach one of the two vhd's and it worked fine.

Ok so next question is how do I get those two VHDs to become a new vm? I think it made two vhds because of the system volume that windows makes.

After we looked into it futher I'm still not sure why it is acting retarded. We were able to mount it to a vm and I was able to see the data but I didn't see the app installed (that was also backed up) that I was needing desperately.

Ok I'm going to make a clone of the working windows 7 vm I have and then "attach" the VHD to it. Now the fun of waiting for the clone.

My Xen Server isn't in RAID or anything, its just a singular SSD using local storage pool.

    • RE: How to recover system image from Windows 7 using the backup & restore app

The file is stored on a NAS/External HDD that I just used "Disk Management" to attach the VHD to my system, and I see the drive but the folder is blank which just made my heart sink.

I realize its not the best way, my dilemma at the time was I had to get the machine working lol fast. So once I miraculosy got the vmware to xen server done, i immediately saved the updated image (with database files I need). I could really care less about the OS/App. But the data if I can get it back whether by system image or just for the files I would be golden again.

    • How to recover system image from Windows 7 using the backup & restore app

Can anyone assist me with this? I'm in a XenServer environment, I used the native backup tool of Windows 7(sorry it was my first time) and made a system image but I'm not too sure how to recover this machine. Any help would be thankful!

Is there an alternate way to export the VM file? I recall from ESXi I could remote ftp into the server to download the files. Is it possible to do that with XenServer as well?
