      Build from source code
      Install from sources

I havent built anything from source code since amd64 was new and i needed a package for my then awesome Opteron cpu system with Debian (or was it MEPIS)
Cant even remember what the package was now, though i do remember it was quite exciting when it all compiled correctly and i was able to install it and it worked.

Cant remember what socket these are?
Some heatsinks will simply screw into the mobo(this depends on socket, obviously)
Can we get a pic of the piece?

@wirestyle22 Yea i know. I need to get glasses. My tv is far away and it is tough to read @ 1080. I am considering moving my couch like 3 feet from tv this weekend and grinding some hours in that game,.

    • RE: Issue installing Korora

I find that these installtion issues typically happen with the graphical installer. Many times using the text based installer will eliminate them, or allow you to fix them. For example, the infuriating 'grub install' errors that happen quite frequently on uefi laptops/pcs can be avoided by using the text installer; usually you can specify the device to install grub to if it fails the first time.

The patch released yesterday for Win10 1607 seems to have fixed this issue. I can now move our massive unindexed userdata file share to our indexed file shares that have been empty for 6 months.

Wow, Black Mirror hating? It is the best TV show to appear in a very long time. Season 4 is even better than 3.

I have a copy of SCO Unix. Very niche. Full box and license. Found it when i was clearing out the IT attic at work. I havent seen a Solaris box since 2010.

@dashrender What happens: you dont spend all your budget, your budget is reduced to what you did spend. You dont spend all that, your budget is reduced. Then you actually need money to do something, and you dont have enough budget.

    • Backblaze B2, is it really this cheap?

Want to send archive copies of some of our most valuable servers/data for offsite storage. This is so i can sleep better at night, as well as for complying with customer requirements.
I went to BackBlaze' cost calculator, and being very generous with the numbers(meaning we would use way less than what im putting in as values) the calculator says we would be paying
      0_1492103151625_upload-0d2230a7-e5d3-4c4e-a22d-ff106b59adba
That is so cheap i dont even need to get permission to buy it. Thoughts? We would only be sending copies of sql, crm, exchange, www and a wiki for now.

I just need this for archiving, in case the building burns/earthquake and everything needs to be rebuilt. Onsite backups still would be used except in case of total loss.

    • RE: Sub $600 laptop

I wonder why dell is still selling 5400rpm hdd for their stuff. That otherwise competent laptop you linked is gimped by that single piece of hardware. Worse, to actually get an ssd in an Inspiron the lowest price is 899, which is only 128GB SSD and a 1TB super slow hdd.
edit: You could get that $450 one then just buy an ssd from newegg for less than $100.
