@Ylian Awesome that you found us. I'm actually looking at possibly having to support both of those use cases.

@scottalanmiller That's what I'm seeing too... regardless of all the NDA / confidentiality / super duper secret papers that you sign in IT, some people still don't realize that if IT wanted / needed to see something they could figure out a way

    • RE: Comparing MeshCentral 2 to ScreenConnect

So, kicking this around the office and a possible issue we've stumbled across: there's nothing on the client device to show that someone is watching their screen.... Has anyone seen a config option for this or something that would alert the user that a tech has a support connection open?

@scottalanmiller If anyone else is playing with this, the trick in my environment seems to be the "Interactive Only" installer...

@manxam gotoassist (used?) to support remote access to a user's android device.... not sure if it was samsung only though... it was an all samsung shop (Rugby smartphones for construction work)

@scottalanmiller Yep, it's in the docs export to json from the default, setup the mongodb instance and then import. Also have to update the server config with the mongodb connection string but it all looked pretty simple and straightforward

@scottalanmiller maybe... Not entirely sure what the new year is going to bring for endpoints.... there's noise of possibly doing a mass refresh on W10, we're working on moving our VDI environment from 7 to 10 (not too involved in that project but it seems to be a bear from the discussions that I've heard going on)

@scottalanmiller Right now just W7 pro. I managed to get it to work on a clean vm that I spun up yesterday based on our deployment image. It wouldn't play nice at all on my W7 test laptop but it's had so much garbage installed, removed and tested on it since the last time I reformatted it that I figured a reformat was in order.... now fog doesn't want to push my snapins properly

@FATeknollogee Default option for now as I'm just in PoC, fighting with the agents, I can't seem to make heads or tails of why some installs work and others don't apart from it being something with our standard deployment

@scottalanmiller @PhlipElder we're using http://www.iristel.com/business/products/sip-trunking for our Canadian sites. I don't look after the telecom stuff but from what I understand they're closer to a 1st tier provider and actually resell to many of the other sip providers

@manxam good question, I can't recall for certain but expect that elevated access might be necessary. That being said, there are options when generating / downloading the windows agent that I can't exactly recall but were along the lines of "unattended & interactive", interactive only or unattended only. Maybe the interactive only option provides a limited feature set but only requires user access?

@scottalanmiller I can't speak to the Linux agent, but the windows one offers a connect button that does a 1 time connection without installing. Better than team viewer as it pops in the tech console instead of having to get a user id an pw from the user

@scottalanmiller I was just playing with this before leaving work and the menu worked really well. What was your client system? (Win /Linux?)

The guides were offline yesterday but back this afternoon. I downloaded the PDFs if they've gone offline again and someone needs them.

Playing around with this and it looks promising. Running into what looks like a conflict induced by our AV solution (TrendMicro) on the client.
