We actually have 2 Synology rack-mounts. The idea was to pool them together using the Synology HA / sync and its heartbeat setup.

One of the places where NAS and SAN isn't something that you can fudge. I believe that the HA is for the NAS functionality only. But in both cases, it doesn't apply to use for VMs, so does not exist for you at all.

Gotcha - and i completely understand that now :). The HA would apply to the storage units themselves, and not to the running VM's. As latency and time it takes... we would still have downtime while I would have to re-associate storage pool / SR's and virtual disks to the VM's on xenserver node.

I see the bigger picture on that aspect now after it all being laid out to me.

I was just overthinking this, rather than relying on a Microsoft solution

Now, what you will likely look up often, is exactly file names. For example, it is common to find that Python 2 packages are called python and Python 3 are called python3.

This is where yum list | grep python is awesome because it will list everything called python regardless and let you see what the options are.

      This! 🙂

I'm not saying that HA is wrong for you, I've never said that once. What I've said is that nothing you've said has supported the idea that HA is what you need but a lot of what you have said and more that you are stating suggest that you do not.

If there is a reason for HA, it's not been mentioned yet.

      Understood

I have an email and documentation to CEO/CFO & management team. Asking them what downtime is worth to them, or the cost of downtime? To the cost of having infrastructure to mitigate that. Also asked about their expectations, as well as ROI and TCO

Make them put it into calculation numbers. Meaning....

      $5/minute or $10,000/hour.

It should be complex in 99% of cases, not just what I said about. It might be like this...

      Timeline:

      0-10 minutes: $0
      10 minutes - 2 hours: $50,000
      Then $12,000/hr
      Until 48 hours, then $5K/hr
At one week it shoots to $500K and we are likely out of business

Thank you. I've asked for this before. For them to calculate what we make on average a day aggregate with all our clients. Or average cost for what downtime costs. Will propose this again.

      FreeBPX 13

I primarily use Askozia PBX for all my VOIP and my customers.

However, Going to check out FreePBX 13, as has new firewall and such. personally, I've always have had a 'vendetta' towards Elastix.. Thats just me. However, if can 100% get Fail2Ban and iptable firewall working, then its okay solution.

Nah, its for the better. But all functionality is still there and the same.

Its supported on the CCR models though, as has the hardware/cpu power to do so. I think they'll also release it for their newer ARM based routers as well.

@dafyre - - it should map out and build topology for you. Or at the least, poll all your network devices via SNMP or netbios name, and relative distance... From there you can draw together

    • O365 exchange - interface

Did Microsoft update Office 365 web interface AGAIN? What the F**. Going back retro windows 2000 style?

They updated the fonts on Left side for folder navigation.. Ugly. Too big, I liked the older.

And now, the contact icon, and now today the messaging / email window formation.

Noticed the Folder font size & font type change on monday.

Understood! We have a documented set username/password for the local machine logon.

I'll be testing this on a fresh workstation I have here and create a new clone image for deployment.

      Thank you so much!

We're on the same page :). That is what my mindset was and will be testing.

We use Roaming profile/Folder redirection -- so all user files and data will be just fine.

Starting from today, I'm going to work create a new deployment image for new computers we deploy. I'll pull down an existing image, run the sysprep and then create a new image of this

      Question:

Even after I make the clone image after running the sysprep. This will absolutely guarantee a unique GUID for each and every freshly cloned computer after fact?

Greatly appreciate you pointing this command out to me. As before I tried to create sysprep using the unattend.xml configuration.
