@jaredbusch that doesn't SEEM like it could be real....
It is because autocorrect in Outlook has a setting to capitalize automatically.
Oh man.
It is one of my users. I know it was a real email...
Not gonna lie, that made me almost spit coffee all over my screen. It's almost as bad as writing out instructions on how to access/navigate our new Student Info System and still having users ask questions when it is in the doc. RTFM!!!

Cannot SFTP into Webhost
Good Morning my Tech Brothers and Sisters!
I found an oddity in that I can terminal (SSH) into my webhost (Linode) but cannot SFTP into it. I'm using Cyberduck as my FTP. I did just disable php 5.6 and enable 7.0 last week but didn't think that had anything to do with it. I had used some google-fu but it didn't seem to point me in any direction I found as a fix.

Ever have your boss need you to do a little project for him and it involves just typing two words into a file?
Like, how incompetent can you be?
Best part is...
I'm the boss in this story. lol
@valentina is very long suffering.

That's not necessarily incompetence, it's delegation.

Sometimes it pays to be the boss!
What is more impressive is when you can delegate up! Getting your boss to do something that you could do is awesome.

DHCP ranges seperate for IP Phones and PCs?
Trying to go through my inventory through
and wanting to clean things up in there. Was wondering if creating two ranges for phone and PCs would be a good idea. Not sure of the benefits or bad things about it but what better place to ask

RE: More toxic clients / people
@CCWTech I think some have become dumber as well. Whether that is from COVID brain or we're just more observant now, I'm not sure.

Removing VMWare Tools after migration to ProxMox
I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed the move to ProxMox and how exciting it was to remove VMWare Tools from all my VMs after the migration.

Then take a day off and chill the fuck out. it helps all kinds of things.
How come I can only upvote this one time?

We had a corporate meeting yesterday and they keep suggesting that we move from our in house exchange system to O365. NO CHANCE IN HELL! For this exact reason.
on-prem exchange... no reason for it whatsoever...
I'm willing to bet it's not up to date.
It is up to date. Also, cost effective is the reason. 3 year life cycle comparison $6600 vs $500. Who would think that hosted/O365 is the better option, EVER!?
Oh, and my shit doesn't disappear randomly every time MS decides to make some jacked up change to its system.

RE: Laptops Donations to Charity
Look for Veteran educational places or even community centers in your area that are looking for simple machines to teach typing, build resumes, etc.

I am on the phone with them now as my personal account somehow got changed to a work account (although we don't have office 365). I am trying to get it changed back to a personal account.
And after finally getting to talk to someone, YES AN ACTUAL PERSON, I was disconnected. Spectrum and Microsoft are my two least favorite companies and in that order.

RE: Unifi and Zapier/IFTTT or other
Not sure if this is what you're looking for however, we use LIfe360 for our cell phones. It is an app that is basically a lo-jack for my kids. I know where they are, if they're driving, how fast they are driving, etc.

All good. I dove way too deep on this one
Turns out when I upgraded Moodle I forgot to put a log directory back in place and it was failing on the Apache restart.
I was just gonna ask if you're sure the service that's supposed to respond on those ports was running. That's the first thing I check anymore. Glad you were able to get it sorted.
For some reason I just went deep end because of Linode being involved. Oh well, lesson learned...I hope.

PDQ Deploy
Anyone using PDQ Deploy? I like using it for the simple new machine deployment of certain programs.
Although for some reason I am getting a 1603 error when deploying Adobe DC but nothing else is displayed in the log

@wls-itguy said in Force Mailbox deletion in Exchange 2016:
So the answer is yes it is gone through the ECP and is now in Exchange PowerDOS
Well, if you Disable a mailbox it is not shown as disabled until 24 to 48 hours in the ECp. Also deleting the mailbox doesnβt translate on space save as the space is not changed on the DB.
Not worried about space. We created a shared mailbox for a calendar and then they wanted to change the name of it so instead of creating a new mailbox I changed the name and alias and then found that not to be working right so I tried to create the right name and boogered it all up.
All good now though.

Spiceworld Ticket
Long story short, My boss has taken a new job outside of our org. This has put a boatload of tasks on my plate and I can no longer attend Spiceworld this year.
Anyone want to buy a ticket? I paid $99 on the early registration deal.
