RE: First Time Installing Linux on VirtualBox Problems
@scottalanmiller Im under 10 minutes away from the Linux Mint 18- 32 Bit being completely downloaded. should this one would?
Or would you recommend I dig for the 64 bit in the BIOS and make sure its activated? -
RE: First Time Installing Linux on VirtualBox Problems
@DustinB3403 the OS on this laptop is Windows 8. I thought it would run the 64 bit with no problem..

RE: First Time Installing Linux on VirtualBox Problems
On a different laptop now; I have Linux mint 18 installed and can insert it into the VirtualBox and get it to boot.
Post boot screen I get this message
"This Kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU
Unable to boot - please us a kernel appropriate for your CPU."
I have tried 7 different kernels, same message each time..
Do you have an idea on which kernels I should try? or where I could potentially find the answer?
When I looked it up; there was no information on the kernel CPU requirements -

I edited your original post to have a more descriptive title and added a topical tag at the bottom. Tagging takes some getting used to and knowing what tags are useful or meaningful is something you learn and always has to be adjusted. A topic title should always be thoughtful. When people first see your topic, it's all that they see. So it needs to have enough information in it that someone knows if it is a topic that they are interested in and/or are able to help with.
thank you!
will Work on it! -

RE: Help Installing VirtualBox
@RojoLoco sorry 362 GB*
Memory generally refers to RAM. Storage or disk space are the phrases you are looking for.
mixed up terminology.. still getting used to the terminology..
You need to get the terminology right if you expect to be taken seriously when you say "I'm in IT".
yes, I understand that. maybe instead I should start with "Still new, bare with me, need help with...."

Does that make it better? LOL
not Sure!
By "memory" ... do you mean free disk space?
Good point... "free memory" is RAM, not hard drive space. @WrCombs I think you have your terminology mixed up.
yes, you are right. sorry "free disk space" will edit

Help Installing VirtualBox
Im using my Girlfriends Laptop (my charging cord became a cat snack the other night and I don't have money at this time to get a new one.) she told me I can do what ever I need to; downloads such and such.
trying to find VirtualBox so I can give Linux Mint 18 another go.
disc Space is not an issue. 363 GB free disc space here.
my question is; which VirtualBox, should I use? theres a dozen or so choices. -
