It is because of this licensing discrepency that we know that CloudAtCost was running a scam. They advertised Windows servers that were unlicensed, and unlicensable.

My co-worker thinks he may have a workaround, which involves backing up the user profile, deleting the existing one and restoring the files for the user.

We're testing this currently to see if this actually "sticks".

Everytime I want to do something, I would make it a powershell script and save it.

With remote powershell enabled on all workstations, it should be fairly effortless to maintain.

Some individual tasks might take more time than it seems worth at first to figure out how to script it, but int he long run it will be the best solution.

So you're saying I should keep the workstations as they are, but administer them as a group by using remote powershell?

Yes. For example, somewhere on here, I have a Poweshell script posted that let's you install printers.

      Edit: Here is that post

I will go ahead and pick up the 2700x.. Wish they had CPU only, as I don't need the cooler as I just got a new one last month, but I don't see one anywhere like how the 1700x was.

You should test the CPU/memory/MB system before doing anything. Search for memtest86.

      The timeline.

2019/02/27 09:23 - I posted on the FreePBX community. 2019/02/27 15:13 - Another user commented they also had this issue. 2019/02/27 16:31 - I submitted a support ticket. 2019/02/27 17:03 - Sangoma replied stating this was not any kind of known issue and I needed to install their SSH key package to let them check the server. 2019/02/28 08:52 I replied that I had added the SSH package and updated the firewall to let them connect. 2019/02/28 09:49 Sangoma replied that the files were missing on the remote server and showed the log error. 2019/02/28 10:05 Sangoma replied that an internal trouble ticket was created. 2019/02/28 15:58 Sangoma replied that the issue was resolved. 2019/02/28 19:26 I confirmed that the firmware was downloadable

This is not any kind of response time that I can complain about. I do wish there had been known information on how to find the EPM download errors. I would have likely been resolved much quicker.

That's why I posted here. Search engines can get this out there.

@scottalanmiller said in MechCentral Feature Request: Blank Background Wallpaper Option:

A feature that I would really like to see on MeshCentral is the option to have background wallpaper blanked out. This reduces bandwidth needs and often goes a long way to improve responsiveness and look & feel when using remote access. Many customers and users have rotating backgrounds that just destroy remote connections.

      @Ylian

Already submitted a request on github?

Does the message trace in Exchange tell you anything? I know that when I had on-prem exchange and barracuda, I had weird issues where the attachment size restrictions being smaller/more restrictive on the Exchange server exhibited this behavior. The barracuda delivered, but Exchange rejected due to policy.

@JaredBusch I wonder how performance compares.

Price is on par now, but historically the price drops lag behind. Since it is a subscription model, the historic price modelling makes it more expensive. If we are deploying a workload only momentarily, we assume that the prices are on par. But from past performance, the expectation is that any long running workload will cost more over time.

Perfomance is good, I have customers on it and works well but it is based on Bitnami for a lot of apps like Wordpress.

FFS. It is a VPS. Not an app system. Yes, there could be some apps preset to spin up just like DO and Vultr do.

      Yes....

So the whole thing is not based on Bitnami......

Correct, I said it wrong and for that I apologize. What I really was trying to say was that Bitnami is what they use for running Wordpress if you use their template for WordPress and other applications (But yeah it is not an OS). As below
      https://docs.bitnami.com/aws/apps/

      Hi Guys
Wonder if you can help shed some light on this.

      I have a Hyper V core host machine with 2x VM's installed (1x DC and 1x SQLServer).
We have a USB device (8TB) plugged into our host, (put offline) and then bought online within our SQLServer. This has been working well and we use the USB to backup.

HOWEVER, recently the USB from the SQLServer has disappeared and we cant bring it back online! We've rebooted servers but it still wont show up on our SQL Server.

Note: we use Windows Admin Centre to manage the host and VM's and in the pic you can see within Admin Centre you can see in the settings for the SQLServer shows our 8TB Hard Drive, however when we list disk's on the actual VM we dont see it!!! DiskMago.JPG

Can anyone help identify how we can bring our USB back online?
This did happen before and it seems the way we bought it back online was by going on site and using Hyper V Manager software to re-attach the drive but seems a long winded way to bring it back visible. Any ideas?

      Thanks

Any reason to not just create a VHDX on the usb drive and attach that to the VM? Passing the usb drive from the host to the VM I don't believe is actually supported. It may work but clearly not reliable.

In order to pass it through the VM needs to have the Storage of the VM as SCSI Controller and add a hard drive and then set it as offline on disk management.

      okay, didn't know that.

OMG, I am doing some cleaning and I just stumbled on the original CD from "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Linux" which is the first copy of Linux that I ever used. It's the disc that contains the original copy of Caldera Linux from the mid to late 1990s that Andy West and I picked up at a Borders in Rochester, New York and was used to run our first server and client farm for MUD gaming!

      I need this!!

I'm pretty sure that you don't want this, lol.

LOL, I just need to get more comfortable with Linux. Learning more every day but just enough to be dangerous...

Can one fibere cable route our Internet traffic to them, whilst also passing 'private' traffic over this line too?

That's the norm. And not just for ISPs, VPNs do this, too.

The gateway out is public IP to the Internet. VPN tunnels between two public IPs, etc... all Internet.

What they seem to be saying is that the 89.x.x.x public 'Internet Stuff' can go through that cable, and my 192.168.3.x 'LAN' stuff can also go through that cable, and at the same time I can have Internet served to my Firewall, and 'LAN' to my device... can it work that way?

So their switch interface 2 is routing 89.x.x.x traffic, and interface 3 is is extending my LAN on 192.x.x.x (public IPs going on and private)... all through the fibre cable to their DC?

      More or less - yes.
They can trunk the single line to act like many lines - think VLANs

Ok. I think that makes more sense to me.

So, the ISP switch eth1 is vLAN1, which passes 89.x.x.x to my firewall for my organisations Internet access. eth1 routes out over their eth0 fibre link. Then, vLAN2 is eth2 on their switch, which extends my 192.x.x.x private range to them, again over the eth0.

Ok, I think in that warped way I get it.

So, I can say to them:

"I'm going to plug my device 10.10.10.2 in to your switch at my office on eth3.
Connect my box at your DC. Its set to be 10.10.10.3. Now, make them talk over my fibre line..."

This assumes it's a straight extension of your network - and not a routed new network.

Good job at troubleshooting. I'm wondering what led you down this path versus something related to Networking, hard drives or software drivers?

Remembered it from several years ago with another SQL based application. Don't know what made me think of it at 1:30am. But I'm ok with it!
