Support hats will be available directly from RP for both PoE+ power (no need for external power on these!!) and, drumroll, for M.2 NVMe drives. Meaning you can really use this as a real computer like never before. Lack of native M.2 support was the killer of the RP4 generation.

An RP4 with NVMe would have made it a reasonable desktop system. Without it, it was hard to do anything requiring drive performance of any sort. With more than double the performance across the "board" and NVMe support, this is a very, very powerful workstation.

Active cooling is now semi-standard to accommodate all of this, too.

Now if only I could get one - I have a need for two of these right now..

@GUIn00b Seems right. I'm old school and learned MD before the interface was added to LVM. It's all the same stuff, just new command line options. But it sure looks right to me.

The Linux / Windows approach gives you far more flexibility. MacOS is useless in a million scenarios. But when it is good, it's really good. The UI is still pretty crap, but things like patching they can do with a reliability no one else can. No matter how hard anyone tries, vertical integration of components means things like patching can be tested completely, not just spot checked.

the issue is you have to remove. Not remove and install again. Having it installed appears to not be an option.

I think you misunderstood what he meant. He installed and uninstalled it many times but the error still occurs.

No major features that I would call important in any way. but lots of little things.

Released yesterday. I upgraded to it with zero issues. I'll be using my laptop as my primary device today and tomorrow, so if there are any issues, I expect to find them. so far, nothing.

LOL, so it IS a small office switch anyway. You should be thinking of it the same way we think of a 15 person veterinary office at that size.

After scouring countless sites and articles, only thing that could fully read the drives was UFS Explorer. $700 later and many, many crashes, we are starting to have a reliable process of recovering the data. We have to use UFS Explorer and recover as raw disk images. Then attach those raw images to new VMs manually. Then do a Windows recover to each one.

@WLS-ITGuy Typically we use the time to rebuild. Any VM should, in theory, be quick and easy to rebuild. If it isn't, it's the perfect time to make it so.

If you absolutely have to convert rather than move through application migration, then there are disk conversation tools that change the format. There's very little needed for the migration.

For now, I removed the newest Acrobat and reloaded a perpetual 2017 version and it is working again. Clearly something in the last Acrobat Update or maybe a combo of it with Windows Update.
