@Reid-Cooper I use it on my MAC terminal and Windows Putty, very nice and helps me to work on windows Putty without much of an eye strain as the default settings in putty, I find it difficult!

Already got mine for $149 last year. Otherwise, I'd be all over that.

We got a Nexus set up to use to monitor the wireless during times of issues, but have not had a chance to check it yet.

Why won't it do what you need? That should be no issue.

Pertino would not work for this. it is not designed for it.

He wants to connect to a European IP and then watch streaming media over that IP.

Pertino could I guess if the device in Europe was then routing the incoming traffic back out tot he internet. But that is not a normal configuration for Pertino.

Also you would have to force normal internet traffic locally to go out Pertino instead of out to the internet.

  • I am curious on how everyone uses Pertino

    There's a KB on this:
    http://support.unitrends.com/ikm/questions.php?questionid=378

Followed the KB. It was all accurate as to stuff being there that was supposed to be there. I rebooted and ran top. The process was no longer coming up maxing the CPU. I'm running a differential backup to make sure it goes through, as I have a good master from Sunday. It's weird that you modify the option under Incremental Forever but I'm running Full w/ Diffs. Linux, last I knew, can't do Incremental Forever. Just Full w/ Diffs.

    Now it is $25/year.

It was that price then. I got it on sale on Newegg. Daily Deal FTW!

No, the servers all have specific purposes. The R720xd is exclusively for a CEPH project.

Okay, fair enough. I'll learn the software/hardware inside out, then, and then figure it out.

No problem. A simulation will tell you a lot.

Better then what I have / had.

Last office was a folding table with a HP ML350 on it... The other new Dell PE2900 was on the floor,.. the firewall - same place.. floor. With the 2 APC UPS 1500s.

Oh - the sprinkler head was right above it all.. Poor design / placement for the network infrastructure.

New office has 2 buildings in a H floor plan. End of each main hall is a utility closet, half with the HVAC, other half....well. stuff.

Of the 12 closets I have 7 servers sitting in them,.. no real ventilation on each.. It's a plan to deal with it, and a rack is planned...

They look impressive but my guess is that nearly always the cost and complexity would offset any gains.

I'm using some Buffalo AP/Router with DD-WRT which works great. I have a 3 of the Linksys E2000's that I got free as well, they work ok for what I use them for but it's not for internet just for some other portable stuff, I wouldn't use them or most of their SOHO routers for an actual internet connection.

Looks pretty interesting, will have to try that out. Session sharing can be super useful for UNIX.
