    • RE: Questions regarding to removing orphaned dc, adding dc, getting DHCP working

That seems good. Are users at all sites still able to login correctly? Authorizing a dhcp server is rather trivial(right click> Authorize), you probably want to get a dc up at site 1.

    • RE: VmWare ESXi 5.0 Unable to install drivers into CentOS7

      From the vmware esxi doc
      CentOS 7
      64-Bit Guest OS Support
      Release Supported Releases Support Details
      CentOS 7.x Workstation12.5, 12.0, 11.0
      Fusion8.5, 8.0, 7.0

      ESXi6.0 U3, 6.0 U2, 6.0 U1, 6.0, 5.5 U3, 5.5 U2, 5.5 U1, 5.5

Even just getting to 5.5 would get you support for centos 7. Upgrading esxi only takes a few minutes. I suppose if it is running something that "needs" to be on all the time it might be a problem. although it does look like 6.X is supported in esxi 5, and centos 6.x still getting updated regularly.

@black3dynamite Those two are very good.
Midsomer Murders is probably the best classic whodunit of all of them.
Also the title theme features theremin prominently.

    • RE: Does the LDAP role require RODC?

Yes, Active Directory is a proprietary MS implementation of the LDAP. LDAP was created to be an easier to implement directory structure than the x500 structure, which i think was originally developed by ARPA. LDAP is at least 25 years old now.

I just got done talking to Amazon about a 512GB Samsung 960 PRO SSD I bought that was clearly tampered with. I plugged it in and it already had Windows installed on it... ok, weird... Go to format, see that it's only a 256GB. Unplug it and examine closer, it's pretty obvious the guy took the Samsung stickers off and placed them on a 256GB Hynix SSD, then returned that for a refund.

Anyway, I plug it back in and start snooping, he has loads of homework on there with his name all over it, address in documents, etc... Bonus is that Amazon said I could keep this one and they're sending a new one next day.

This is why in usually only buy the stuff direct from Amazon/Newegg rather than through random sellers that appear there.

@penguinwrangler I have also stopped eating sugary candy. I do still eat strawberries and grapes almost daily, but it is much better than a couple full size snickers bars every day.

    • RE: 2010 Team Mailbox

You can make a mailbox and give the team permissions to it. It shows as a separate mailbox in their outlook.
You could also make a mailbox, then have that mailbox forwarded to a distribution group containing team members if you dont want people to have more than 1 mailbox in their outlook.
Recently i made a mailbox for sales leads; emails are generated to this mailbox when people visit our website.
I forwarded this mailbox' items to the Sales channel on our Slack service for easier access for that group.

Actually doing some work while ranting in another thread.
All the linux servers i have been scanning with openvas show basically the same vulnerabilities.

I think i know how to mitigate teh SSH weak encryption/MAC algorightms ones. Where can i find a list of good ciphers? the ssh_config and sshd_config show mostly these older ones listed as weak.
The TCP timestamp one can possibly allow someone to see my server uptime? Why is that bad?
      Sorry for the basic questions.

@NashBrydges said in Transfer Large File To Host = GOOD Transfer Large File To VM File Server On Same Host = BAD:

When I run ping -t tests from the workstation to the host, replies are consistently <1ms or 1ms and 0% loss. Same ping -t tests to the file server VM result in <1ms to as high as 11ms with 0% loss.

11ms is high for a local ping.

      From the workstation
      try a tracert to host
      try tracert to vm

      From host
      do a tracert to vm
      do a tracert to workstation

How is the vnic on the guest setup?
