RE: What's the first thing you do when you get a new laptop or system?
Nuke / Pave to remove vendor crap & update drivers / bios
For separate accounts it's good practice to use a daily user account with a different admin account (no one ever does this outside of a business that I've ever heard of, but $0.02 to consider)
Do the unboxing!

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Going home early before I bite a user. Plan to lay flat on the floor and drink beer through a twisty straw. #winning.

RE: website for MangoCon?
@Dashrender said in website for MangoCon?:
And the Con is paid for. Prices for airfare went up over the weekend, I'll see if they go down tomorrow. I'll book regardless.
Try with a private tab, they do track your activities and it's not unheard of for them to muck with prices.

Well, it's official. They've broken more crap than I can fix today.
If anyone needs me I'm going to be hiding under my desk with a bottle of scotch.

RE: Scale Computing Brings First Fully Featured Sub-$25,000 Flash Solution to SMB Market
One of the little things that irritates me in advertising is "Sub-$$$$ price!" we all know it's sub-price minus one dollar lol

@johnhooks By using his pic for my avatar I hope to one day gain some of the powers he keeps in his moustache.

RE: RANT: All the Issues are My Fault and You Won't Answer My Questions
SME is the sweet spot for me. I'm curious and stupid enough to look at working for a startup as well.
I have a deep allergy to red tape and bureaucracy.

@MattSpeller Everything on that list makes sense... Except the first one... The first item has me concerned for your safety.
Actually, you should be more concerned about your safety... that iron phallus has "Dafyre" etched on its side.
Keep telling yourself that big boy

RE: The Textbook Things Gone Wrong in IT Thread
TL;DR - Do your research before implementing stuff.

RE: Massive Azure Outage and No Support
Stuff like this makes me glad we have (most) of our junk internal. So much trust to put in another company!
Edit: advantages to cloud are obvious, don't get me wrong.

RE: At first I thought the article was about SAM
Note to self: if ever drinking with SAM do not go 1 for 1

RE: Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2012 Migration - Upgrade vs Clean Install
@scottalanmiller One point for me then.... Uhhh I mean one point in favour of clean installs, passionately taking sides in an argument like this is silly and unproductive and no one would ever ever do such a thing.
I'll devil's advocate on her behalf and attempt a point for the dark side: Upgrade is way faster and easier

RE: How Do I Describe Being Weird?
@scottalanmiller Classic example of "just because you can, does not mean you should"
